There was a time when my life felt like it had fallen into pieces. After the birth of our youngest son, while preparing for our wedding and navigating the beautiful yet overwhelming reality of motherhood, I found myself emotionally unravelled, exhausted, and searching for the person I once was. During that season, painting became my refuge – a way to express what words couldn’t.

The Joogooloo Collection, meaning “broken” in my grandfather’s Bardi language, was born from that experience. Inspired by the rugged, sunburnt Australian outback that I had admired for years from 10,000 feet as a flight attendant, these works reflect the connection between the resilience of Country and our own ability to heal. The fractured forms symbolise both brokenness and rebuilding, while each colour palette represents an emotion that carried me through.

‘Joogooloo’ is a deeply personal collection that reminds us that even in our most difficult seasons, there is strength in vulnerability, beauty in healing, and hope in beginning again.
